“Yet I Heard It All” by Ayesha Aamir

And on the ocean,

I could hear the silence,

Silence that spoke volumes, with no words to keep.

No words, no screams, no cries and no laughters,

Yet I heard it all.

I heard how he yearned to make me his own, wild and carelessly.

I heard the loud thumping of his heart on finding me, alone and for him.

I heard my own heart’s whisper, urging to be heard, but could just smile.

There were no dialogues,

 yet I heard it all.

I heard all that he wanted to say me.

All the love and hugs he longed to share with me.

All the dreams he wanted to build with me.

And all the stories he wanted to tell, the memories to share.

It was a deep, profound silence,

Yet I heard it all.

I heard the voice of the waves, witnessing a love so deep.

I heard the voices of the creatures underneath the ocean, agreeing in unison to the “yes” I said.

I heard the birds flapping their wings with excitement when he pulled me into a hug.

It was a silent moment, a silent promise.

Yet I heard it all.

Summary: “Yet I Heard It All” is a poignant and emotionally rich poem written by Ayesha Aamir, an intelligent, loving, caring, and nurturing young woman currently pursuing her studies in college. Through her gentle yet powerful words, Ayesha explores the profound depth of unspoken love—a love that does not need to be voiced, because the heart understands it all.

Set against the serene and symbolic backdrop of the ocean, the poem captures a moment of complete silence that paradoxically speaks volumes. The poet hears no words, no laughter, no cries, and yet, she hears everything. She hears the longing in her beloved’s silent presence, the unvoiced beat of his heart, and the whisper of her own emotions. With tender insight, she recognises that even in stillness, love finds a way to communicate.

Ayesha’s nurturing soul shines through her portrayal of this moment, not as one filled with dramatic declarations, but with quiet assurance and emotional clarity. Nature plays a crucial role in the poem, with waves, sea creatures, and birds bearing witness to this silent exchange, almost as if the universe itself honours their love. The repeated line “Yet I heard it all” becomes a soft but steady heartbeat throughout the poem, reinforcing the idea that silence can be louder than words when the soul listens closely.

What makes this piece especially beautiful is how Ayesha uses her poetic voice to express the emotional intuition that often goes unnoticed. Her intelligence allows her to see beyond the surface, and her caring nature brings out the purity and warmth of this shared moment.

In this poem, Ayesha Aamir celebrates the kind of love that doesn’t need to be spoken to be felt, where the silence between two people becomes the most meaningful conversation of all.
